THE ORCHARD

No. 104 Orchard Hills Community Association, Inc. June 2011

http://orchardhillscommunity.org You’re in District ______

From The President

Hello neighbors,

First of all, I would like to thank Pam Burke for her past two years of service on the board as President of our Community Association. She did a fantastic job. Pam has agreed to stay on the board and help with the membership so we appreciate her continued support.

For those of you who don't know me. I live on Cavan Drive with my husband, Alton, and our three children Hannah, Quint and William. I have lived in the community for a little over 5 years. When we moved in, Hannah was almost 2, Quint was due in September, and William was not even on the radar. Come this fall, I will have two children in Lutherville Lab and one headed into preschool. Time is flying by. Feel free to stop by sometime and introduce yourself as we are frequently outside enjoying the warmer weather and the company of the other families in the neighborhood.

I am very excited that currently all of our districts are full!! Your district director should be around soon to say "Hi" and collect your annual $10 dues, if he or she hasn't already done so. We appreciate your continued support that allows us to do so many things for our community and local schools.

Please feel free to contact me or any of the board members if we can be of assistance. I look forward to seeing and meeting a lot of you at the activities throughout the year. Have a great summer!

Jenn Fryer, President

The annual yard sale was held on May 21. It was a beautiful day. Thank you to Lisa Spagnolo and Jane Amy for their hard work organizing the event.

Orchard Hills History

Joanna (Franklin) Bell, an Orchard Hill resident writes a column called "Then and Now" for Patch.com. Patch is a national local online newspaper distributed by AOL. Ours is Lutherville-Timonium Patch, online at timonium.patch.com. The "Then and Now" column is historical in nature.

Joanna is researching for a future column on Orchard Hills and would be interested in hearing from original and other long time residents of Orchard Hills about their memories of the community and how it has changed over the years. Residents can contact Joanna at jmfbell@comcast.net.

Daytime Phone Numbers

Recently, a tree in the neighborhood fell during the day. Neighbors who were at home were unable to contact other neighbors who were impacted. Consider giving your neighbors a daytime phone number (e.g., a work number) where you can be reached in the event of an emergency.

Reminders

With the arrival of Spring, please remember to be considerate of your neighbors by keeping your grass cut and your yards free of junk.

If you walk you dog in the park or throughout the neighborhood, please remember that County law requires all dogs to be on a leash when off the owner's property including at the park.

We have received complaints about residents leaving "free" items in front of properties on Othoridge Road. If you need to get rid of these items, please call a charitable pick up service (e.g., Purple Heart, Vietnam Veterans) rather than leaving them on a neighbor's property.

In Need of Yarn

Thanks to all the neighbors who donated yarn to me for hats for the Ronald McDonald House. It is very much appreciated. Yarn (any color, no wool) may still be dropped off at 1306 Warwick Dr. Thank you, Sigrid Szoke.

Thanks, Neighbor!

Marj Tellis of Westbury court would like to thank my thoughtful neighbors, Scott Bayne, Tom Delinski, and Nathan Cash, for their help during the winter snow storms. Thanks much.

If you know of a community resident who has been especially neighborly, let us know so we can acknowledge it in future newsletters.
